Today’s rating is little changed from a 51 – 28 percent job approval in a June 11 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University, with black approval then at 66 – 14 percent, Hispanic approval at 56 – 17 percent and white voters divided with 41 percent approving and 42 percent disapproving.Today, black voters approve of Mayor de Blasio 65 – 15 percent, with Hispanic approval at 55 – 27 percent and white approval at a negative 36 – 45 percent. The racial divide touches on measures of de Blasio’s character as voters overall say:

New York City voters approve 55 – 33 percent of the way de Blasio is handling relations between blacks and whites, with black approval at 67 – 22 percent, white approval at 46 – 41 percent and Hispanic approval at 58 – 31 percent. Voters are divided on the way the mayor is handling relations between the police and the community, as 46 percent approve and 44 percent disapprove. Race relations in the city are “generally good,” voters say 50 – 41 percent.
