Well it appears that everyone’s favorite mass murderer, Charles Manson, won’t tie the knot with 27 year old Afton Elaine Burton after all. It appears that the couples marriage license will expire on Thursday but weddings only take place on the weekends according to Terry Thornton of the California Department of Corrections.
“A Manson wedding did not take place,” Thornton said. Manson is incarcerated in Corcoran State Prison.
It is unclear why the wedding was called off. Thornton said she could not speculate or speak on the couple’s behalf.
Manson is free to talk through mail and on collect calls, she said.
According to records with the Kings County Clerk-Recorder, Manson and Burton applied for the marriage license Nov. 7.
Manson is allowed to have “contact visits,” so there would have been no glass between the couple during the wedding ceremony, Thornton said. Inmates are also allowed to wear wedding rings, she said.
But Manson does not qualify for overnight family visits, which are better known as conjugal visits.
