Hype and Change

I’m part of a people without a Capitol.

If you’re a Democrat, you have Harry Reid, Obama, most of those in the Senate and all that they stand for- Abortion, government-run healthcare, the desire for a good, strong federal father that loves and cares for its citizens.

If you’re a Republican, then you have John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, most of the House and all that they stand for- Abortion, government-run healthcare, the desire for a good, strong federal father that loves and cares for its citizens.

But if you’re a Conservative, a true Conservative, a Constitutionalist, a grown-up and therefore not in need a federal father, then for the most part, you have only a spattering of Capitol Hill heroes. Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Jim Inhofe, they’re great, but three out of 535 ain’t much. There are probably more true Conservatives out there in our hallowed halls with respect for the Constitution, but none with sufficient numbers to be effective..

So what are I and my compatriots to do?

It’s one thing to step up to the fight with Liberals. That we can do, and with pleasure. Going toe to toe with a Leftist isn’t even challenging, really. In fact it’s wearisome. When you’re done, you’ve got someone staring at you, eyes glazed, lips working without words. After a long series of guttural croaks, all you hear is a weakened voice muttering, “Bush is Hitler!”

But what do you do when the Republican Party, the Party that’s supposed to stand for freedom, the Party of Lincoln, the Party that fought the Democrats’ white knuckled grip on their beloved slave trade, what do you do when they ridicule conservatism. What do you do when the traditional Party of liberty in its modern-day form is ignorant of our Constitution, even hostile to it?

Where do you go?

I wish I had the answer, but it seems that bringing America back to a moral standard, such as taking a stand for the life of a baby, is a long lost dream.

Our current pusillanimous GOP isn’t interested.

Getting the country to a place – long since gone – where God is allowed a place in our schools is now but a historical, outmoded anachronism.

When was the last time you heard a Senator or Congressman pound the podium and declare from the floor, “We won’t stop until this evil, fascist, tyrannical ‘Death Tax’ is abolished!”

When was the last time it was even mentioned?

I mean, come on, it’s the Government pocketing half of someone’s life’s work simply because their heart stopped. It says to the children of the deceased, ‘Okay, here you go kids, fifty for you and fifty for me.’

Like Democrats, Republicans see no problem there.

Hmmm . . . racking my brain, here, but I don’t recall our Framers seeing such confiscations as high on the list of priorities in the Founding of this nation.

Picture it if you will, George Washington in a room together with all the signers of the Declaration of Independence. They all just finished declaring with a singular voice that their lives are worthy of risk for The Cause, then George says, “. . .  oh yeah, Ben, one more thing. Once we get this new nation thing going, let’s make sure we have the new Government taking half of all the peoples’ money when they die.”

“OH-MY-GOSH!” says Franklin, in an exuberant peal. “Brilliant idea, George. Now why didn’t I think of that?”

How many times has a Senator or House Representative demanded the dissolution of the Central Bank? Something that Thomas Jefferson said was more dangerous to a free society than a standing army!

The reason that The United States of America was begun was because a group of Christians from Europe wanted the freedom to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a way that the Holy Bible supported, without the heavy hand of a monarch forcing upon them misinterpretations of the Word of God by a dictator. It’s true, it can be found there, in the historical documents of our founding. When has Senator or House member in the last twenty years spoken of that from the podium?

Now, I’m not naive. I know the political ramifications of such words and the mockery that would follow. But so what? Where are, as Lewis said, Men with chests?

I doubt that all our Capitol Hill heretics are ignorant of the historicity of our nation’s founding. They know. They’re well aware of how America came about. And if not, they’re at least aware of the Documents they took an oath to protect.

Obviously, it’s forced ignorance. But why?

Not to go all supernatural on you here, but it seems that there is a pall that has settled over our modern-day political climate, one that is bi-partisan. And all the time, in all this malaise of regulatory and Federal manipulations, we actually have the Founding Documents right there, in their original words, giving us the strong, strict limitations put upon our Government for all to see.

But nobody’s looking.

In a few days, our Midterm elections will be here, and we will have the chance to . . . to . . . keep the current well-oiled machine running smoothly?

Sadly, yes.

When the votes are in, the polls closed, and all the ballots counted, I predict – with grave hopes that I’m wrong – that the next two years will bring The Central Bank creating more fiat money upon which to glut themselves and their lapdogs, that bureaucrats will demand investigations resulting in soap suds, and just over 2 million babies will be burned to death, poisoned, or ripped apart in the womb because of someone’s Right to kill them.

The pundits and politicians will hold cocktail parties, vacation at Martha’s Vineyard, have lunch with celebrities, then go home to their gated community mansions and sleep well, knowing that their United States of America will continue gliding them down the golden graft of gain on greased grooves.

And all will be well with the world.

How proud we can be.
