Speaker of the House, John Boehner, gave us another one of his familiar renditions today, his knees providing the percussion section. Quivered on the question of impeachment, he blamed Obama regarding the current talk of a Congressional remedy for “High crimes and misdemeanors” being floated around. He said it was,
“. . . a scam started by Democrats at the White House.”
For any Congressional House Speaker to draw up articles of impeachment for any President, he must first have an ossiferous rather than cartilaginous skeletal structure. The current Speaker has time and time again demonstrated a rear suspension system more along the lines of a Nerf football than calcified bone.
With a hubris far stiffer than his spine, Boehner said,
“This whole talk about impeachment is coming from the president’s own staff and coming from Democrats on Capitol Hill. Why? Because they’re trying to rally their people to give money and to show up in this year’s election.”
When we have an out of control President who is ruining the country, our brave and honorable House Speaker says,
“We have no plans to impeach the president.”
That’s like the worm saying he has no plans to eat the fish.
The singular beautiful voice cutting through the screeching wails is Sarah Palin, former Vice Presidential Candidate. She has pointed out that Obama has plenty of black marks to warrant impeachment. On Breitbart, she said,
The Constitution says “high crimes and misdemeanors” are the basis for this serious remedy. The Framers used that term to mean a dereliction of duty, and the first duty of the president is to enforce our laws and preserve, protect, and defend our Constitution.
The lovely former governor of Alaska seems to be more endowed than the Speaker in many areas, including the brain,
Alexander Hamilton described impeachable offenses as “the abuse or violation of some public trust.” He called them “political” offenses because they “relate chiefly to injuries done immediately to the society itself.”
No serious person who is paying attention can deny that Obama and his administration have abused and violated the public trust and the Constitution.
Palin noted many of the scandals the President is responsible for, listing just some of them as justification for impeachment,
From Benghazi to the IRS and VA scandals, to the NSA spying on innocent Americans, to his Department of Justice wiretapping reporters and giving guns to Mexican drug cartels in Fast & Furious, to ignoring in-house illegal fundraising, I could go on and on.
But Sarah, sweetheart, The Weaker of the House is suing the President, isn’t that enough? I mean, it’s not like he holds some position of power or authority.
Oh, wait.
It seems that our Congressional choir director is tone deaf. He stands there, taps on the stand with the baton, the starts waving his arms with a dramatic flare that would make the London Philharmonic Symphony stare in wonder. But his songbook is filled with nothing but nursery rhymes.
Palin also said,
We’re acknowledging that there’s only one recourse in holding government accountable when led by a president who breaks the law. Remember the Constitution holds the president directly responsible for the executive branch. He can’t just vote “present” and keep feigning ignorance of all the scandals rocking his administration, any more than a mob boss can claim innocence because he didn’t personally do the hit. The buck stops with the guy at the top.
Now one might say that if Sarah Palin is so great, then why did she lose to Obama?
Well, I would just remind you that she was the Vice Presidential candidate. John McCain, Boehner’s twin cousin, was the main attraction.
Or rather, the main repulsion.
In fact, McCain was so insipid, wallowing in his own drool, that he had to pull Palin in to revive the campaign. It was she who inspired the ticket and rallied the Base, giving the Republican run some testicular fortitude, not McCain.
For those faithful to Politisite, I guess I’m preaching to the choir, but it is frustrating for me, those like me, and those like Sarah Palin, that such dog fights even go on between GOP personalities. Such in-fighting is just what is needed, though. The choir is singing off-key, and has been for a long time now. It’s high time we get some new music leaders, ones that know the old songs, the traditional songs, the Freedom songs of years goner by.
But for now, the House is filled with nothing but timid tonsils draped in fancy robes.
Until a strong chorus with a powerful set of lungs prevails, we’ll just have to endure the dissonant tones of a blustering harangue, applauding our lone soprano drowning out the head baritone.
Well, more apropos, the lone contralto drowning out the lead castrati.
